What is Information Technology?

However, the modern conception of information technology emerged much later, with the term first appearing in a 1958 article published in the Harvard Business Review. Coined by Harold J. Leavitt and Thomas L. Whisler, the term “information technology” encapsulated techniques for data processing, the application of statistical and mathematical methods to decision-making, and the simulation of higher-order cognitive processes through computer programs.
