The past simple and the past participle of shrive
Conjugation of the verb shrive:
Base Form/Infinitive without 'to':
Third Person Singular:
To hear or receive a confession (of sins etc.), to prescribe penance or absolution, to confess, and receive absolution.
She asked the priest to shrive her.
They will get him to the church and shrive him.
The burden of his sins led him to shrive his soul.
The irregular verbs in the table below have the same pattern as shrive. They are:
- Verbs with '-en' in the past participle.
- Verbs like 'write, wrote, written'.
