Reflexive pronouns are used when the subject and the object of a sentence refer to the same person or thing.
Reflexive pronouns in English:
- I → myself
- you → yourself / yourselves
- he → himself
- she → herself
- it → itself
- we → ourselves
- they → themselves
We use reflexive pronouns:
- When someone does something to themselves
She hurt herself. - To emphasize that nobody helped
He did it himself. - With by to mean “alone”
The children did the work by themselves.
Common mistake:
